Meet the DALNET Staff: Anaclare Evans
[January 11, 2002]
In terms of longevity, Anaclare Evans is DALNET's second most senior employee. She
completed her Master's Degree at Case Western University in 1964 and came to the
Wayne State University Medical Library that same year. She remained there for twenty-
three years until she became head of Database Management in the Technical Service
division in 1988. Finally in 1995, Anaclare became part of DALNET.
One of Anaclare's first DALNET assignments was her involvement in the strategic
planning process and visioning retreat in 1995. Anaclare had a major role in the
migration and data conversion for DALNET sites moving from NOTIS to Horizon. She
has held down the fort as the only DALNET Systems Librarian, for much of the past
year. Her knowledge in the history of DALNET continues to prove invaluable.
In the midst of the DALNET migration to Horizon, Anaclare completed her doctorate -
on January 6, 2000 – a wonderful twelfth night gift. She has an extensive list of
publications including chapters in two books. She is active in several divisions of ALA
and has made presentations at ALA, and the NOTIS and Horizon User Group Meetings.
Anaclare has an extensive knowledge of cataloging, authority control, MARC, and
OCLC. She is a certified Name Authority Cooperative (NACO) trainer. She teaches
classes through the WSU Library and Information Science Program and has taught
classes through Oakland Community College. In addition to her cataloging expertise, she
also has extensive knowledge of Circulation in Horizon.
When Anaclare isn't working at DALNET, she spends time with her two Bedlington
Terriers, Dudley and Farnsworth. Anaclare and Farnsworth enjoy competing in the sport
of dog agility. Anaclare lives in Oak Park with Bob, her husband of thirty years.
Anaclare and Bob took a month long vacation this summer to Alaska that included both
an ocean cruise and a journey into the interior of the state.
